چکیده
We report the discovery of a bright (V ~ 15), eclipsing, two-pole accreting magnetic cataclysmic variable (CV), polar, as counterpart eROSITA and Gaia transients eRASSt 192932.9-560346 Gaia21bxo. Frequent large amplitude changes its brightness at X-ray optical wavelengths by more than 4 magnitudes was indicative CV nature source. Identification spectra obtained with 10m SALT telescope revealed typical features CV, strong, broad HeI, HeII hydrogen Balmer emission lines superposed on blue continuum. Time-resolved photoelectric polarimetry circular polarization to vary from -20% +20%, linear 0% 10% confirming system be polar subclass. High cadence photometry deep, structured eclipses, indicating that is two pole accretor. The orbital period determined eclipse times 92.5094 +- 0.0002 min. spectrum thermal only implied luminosity L_X=2.2 x 10^(31) erg/s Gaia-determined distance 376 pc.

Discovery of a bright eclipsing cataclysmic variable
Aims. We report on the discovery of J0644+3344, a bright deeply eclipsing cataclysmic variable (CV) binary. Methods. Optical photometric and spectroscopic observations were obtained to determine the nature and characteristics of this CV. Results. Spectral signatures of both binary components and an accretion disk can be seen at optical wavelengths. The optical spectrum shows broad H I, He I, an...
متن کاملThe serendipituous discovery of a short-period eclipsing polar in 2XMMp
We report the serendipituous discovery of the new eclipsing polar 2XMMp J131223.4+173659. Its striking X-ray light curve attracted immediate interest when we were visually inspecting the source products of the 2XMMp catalogue. This light curve revealed its likely nature as a magnetic cataclysmic variable of AM Herculis (or polar) type with an orbital period of ∼ 92 min, which was confirmed by f...
متن کاملRX J 0719 . 2 + 6557 : a new eclipsing polar
A newmagnetic cataclysmic variable is identified as the counterpart of the X-ray source RX J0719.2+6557 which has been discovered during the ROSAT all-sky survey. Optical spectroscopy of the ≈ 17m object revealed a pattern of Balmer and strongHe II emission lineswhich are characteristic for cataclysmic variables. The emission lines show radial velocity variations with a period of 98.2 min with ...
متن کاملBright low mass eclipsing binary candidates observed by STEREO
Observations from the Heliospheric Imagers (HI-1) on both the STEREO spacecraft have been analysed to search for bright low mass eclipsing binaries (EBs) and potential brown dwarf transits and to determine the radii of the companions. A total of 9 EB candidates have been found, ranging in brightness from V = 6.59 mag to V = 11.3 mag, where the radius of the companion appears to be less than 0.4...
متن کاملSTJ Observations of the Eclipsing Polar HU Aqr
We apply an eclipse mapping technique to observations of the eclipsing magnetic cataclysmic variable HU Aqr. The observations were made with the S-Cam2 Superconducting Tunnel Junction detector at the WHT in October 2000, providing high signalto-noise observations with simultaneous spectral and temporal resolution. HU Aqr was in a bright (high accretion) state (V = 14.7) and the stream contribut...
